Privacy Policy
Last updated September 8, 2026
This is a template written to describe this site's actual, current data practices, not a generic boilerplate. It is not legal advice — have it reviewed before relying on it, particularly the advertising and analytics sections, which describe what each will collect once it is switched on, and the California section, which states obligations under a specific statute.
What this site does not collect
onlinesquarefootagecalculator.com does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal information to use its calculators, and does not send the measurements you type or draw to any server — every calculation runs in your browser.
Local storage
Your choice of unit system (imperial or metric) is saved in your browser's local storage so it is remembered the next time you visit. This value never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us.
Hosting logs
Like effectively every website, this site's hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information for each request — such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested — for security and reliability purposes. These logs are not used to identify individual visitors.
Advertising and cookies
This site is, or will be, supported by display advertising served through a third-party ad network such as Google AdSense (see the ad disclosure page for which network is currently active). These networks may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and to measure ad performance.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or generally at aboutads.info.
Analytics
This site uses, or will use, Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which calculators and pages actually get used. It records which pages you view, an approximate location, and the device and browser you are on, and it sets cookies so that a returning visitor can be told apart from a new one.
Google uses your IP address to derive that approximate location and then discards it: GA4 does not store IP addresses or make them available in reports, so what this site can see is aggregate counts rather than individual people. The measurements you type or draw into a calculator are never sent to Google Analytics, or anywhere else.
You can opt out across every site that uses Google Analytics by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking it with any content blocker. Nothing on this site stops working if you do — the calculators never needed it.
California privacy rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you specific rights over personal information collected about you. They are set out and honored here whether or not the revenue and volume thresholds that make the law mandatory are met — they are reasonable things to offer either way.
These are the categories of personal information this site and the third-party services on it collect, all of them automatically as you browse rather than because you handed anything over:
- Identifiers — your IP address, and the cookie and device identifiers set by Google Analytics and by the ad network. Used to count visits, to serve and measure ads, and to keep the site up.
- Internet and network activity — which pages you view, the page that referred you, and your browser and device type. Same sources, same purposes.
- Approximate location — a city-level estimate derived from your IP address. Never precise location: the site never asks your browser for it.
- Whatever you put in an email — if you write to the address at the bottom of this page, we hold your email address and what you chose to tell us for as long as it takes to answer you.
Nothing outside that list is collected, and none of it is sensitive personal information as the CPRA defines the term. The measurements you type or draw into a calculator are absent from the list because they are never transmitted anywhere.
On selling and sharing. This site does not sell personal information for money and never has. It does "share" it in the narrow sense the CPRA gives that word — letting an ad network use identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising, which is what a personalized ad is. You can switch that off yourself, immediately, with the same controls described above: Google's Ads Settings for personalized ads, the opt-out browser add-on for Analytics, or any content blocker for both at once.
You have the right to ask this site to:
- tell you what categories of personal information it has collected about you, where they came from, why, and who received them;
- give you a copy of that information;
- delete it;
- correct it, if it is wrong;
- stop sharing it for advertising.
Using any of those rights will never get you a worse site. There is no charge for asking, no feature withheld and no degraded calculator, and an authorized agent may make a request on your behalf.
Email contact@onlinesquarefootagecalculator.com to make a request; you will get an answer within 45 days, or a note explaining why it needs the further 45 days the law allows. One limitation is worth stating plainly rather than burying: because the site has no accounts and holds nothing that identifies you, it generally cannot verify that a particular record is yours, and the law does not require it to re-identify data in order to try. That makes the opt-out the request that actually does something — and you can apply it yourself, with the links above, without waiting on anyone.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time, for example as advertising or analytics are added. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
Contact
For privacy questions, or to ask what data this site holds about you, email contact@onlinesquarefootagecalculator.com. Because the site has no accounts and stores nothing that identifies you, most such requests are answered by pointing back at this page — but the address is read either way.
